art camp took over

Spring break happened this week. I entertained from the time I woke up to the time they went to bed (which was always too late). I cleared out a space and set up alittle kids table and then put all of their supplies where they can find them. Mia wanted to teach art camp one day too - which was so cute to watch.

my little painters

Mia got an easel for her birthday and she broke it out while Ryan was sleeping. She has so much fun painting with me. When Ryan woke up and crashed the painting party - Mia washed her brush and handed it over for Ryan to paint. I was thrilled with the sisterly love. When Ryan started painting, Mia said "verrry niiiice Ryan - you are painting abstract"

30/30 is going well, I am so glad I am doing it. I should be working on taxes, but doing artwork every night is much more fun. Here is my desk currently.

addicted to text

I have always in the past tried not to SPELL IT OUT. Tried to leave things more subtle and more metaphoric. However, I have been loving Johns work with text and how he finds a line of text and illustrates it in his found images/pieces. I love to print and write and do different styles of lettering - but was I have not been able to do a lot of hand written words. I had a few books laying around in my studio from flea market finds last summer and I sat down and read some of them. There were so many great sentences and couple words I thought I would see what I could do with them. I have been having a lot of fun with quirky captions. Here are a few on my desk - - you will see them in work to come. I was going to go to the antique store to find some old books - but first hit my favorite thrift store on 50% off saturday. I got over 20 books for $38. SUPER SCORE. and LOTS AND LOTS of words and phrases ahead.

gift certficates

I have donated 3 gift certificates to local schools. Denver Cooperative Preschool, Montview Preschool and Most Precious Blood School. The gift certificates are for custom invitations for a party - if you happen to attend any of these school auctions (in denver) look for my certificates.

30 days - 30 pieces

I was asked to do 30 days - 30 pieces by Dave (the creator) and I am so honored to be apart of it all. IT'S FUN! We are on day 6 and i am really enjoying seeing everyones pieces each day. I had a start on about 8-10 pieces so i have just been finishing them each day. When I get past the first 10 days - i will have to be creating one each day and things will change a bit. (unless i have a good studio day to work on a few at a time) These pieces i am uploading are works I intend to post to sell on etsy.com, both the originals and prints. STAY TUNED! here is the link: http://www.30days30pieces.com/
